Cardinal Inn

Rome is a city full of B&Bs : Romans transform their empty apartments to rent them for the night, breakfast included. The problem is that, most often, breakfast is a coupon for the next-door bar where you can order a coffee and croissant. And then there’s Cardinal Inn…

Owned by a charming couple, this adorable B&B aims to be comfortable and welcoming. You are greeted with a smile and rooms are nicely decorated. Each has its own style but all are comfortable with a beautiful bathroom. And as for breakfast, it takes place in the kitchen: yoghourt, tea or coffee, fruits, bread, cream, jam or Nutella doughnuts (ask for the ones you prefer)… Everything is done to make you feel at home.

Another characteristic of the Cardinal Inn is its location. Only ten minutes walk from the Vatican, right outside the crowd. Ideal for relaxing and visiting Rome during a long weekend.

Price: about 80€ per night

L’insalata ricca

Lunch is quite a bit of a headache in Rome for those who are careful about what they it. Temptation is great to go straight to a huge pasta plate or hurry on a pizza sold by pieces (and take several pieces). Moreover, tourist restaurants are numerous in the old town and even though most of the restaurants are good, some are better than the others.

Spread around Rome are the restaurants L’insalata ricca, a perfect solution to match sweetmeat and reason, and reconcile big and small eaters. You can choose among a wide range of pasta but also big mouthwatering salads.

Our choice: Largo dei Chiavari, close to both Pantheon and Campidoglio

Price: 15-20 euros for a salad and beverage
