Uluwatu

Uluwatu is one of the major temples in Bali. Located on the Bukit peninsula, at the South-West of Bali, it is also known as the monkey temple as there are plenty living there. Dominating the sea, perched on a cliff, the Uluwatu temple stands out on the clear sky. Specifically appreciated for the sunset, Uluwatu is for sure one of the beauties of Bali. Be careful of the monkeys, though, as they have become aggressive during the year 2011: they will most likely steal your sunglasses, camera or even sandals which end up torn and eaten here and there on the ground.

Tip: don’t forget to take a sarong in order to enter Uluwatu. Otherwise, you can still borrow one at the entrance. Continue reading « Uluwatu »

The Stones

The Stones is an entertainment center where everything has been made to chill out and enjoy the moment. Located across the road from Legian and Kuta beach, The Stones the resort makes the difference with the surrounding buildings with its particular architecture in shape of a wave. The top floor bar is perfect for a sunset drink. Airy, design, it reminds of the most trendy bars. When the night has come, the lights dress up the bar in various colors. The cocktails are good and original even though the classics are also on the menu.

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot is, without a hesitation, the most famous temple in Bali. Visited by hundreds of people every day, Tanah lot has unfortunately been perverted by an ever increasing tourism and consumerism. As a matter of fact, one has to go along a street bordered by various shops to get to the holly temple. Though it is holly, there is no need to wear the traditional sarong  not cover your body (a simple short is tolerated). It’s a shame for such an important place for the Balinese. However, you need to visit it…

Ku De Ta

Restaurant, bar, club, beach… The Ku De Ta is hard to define. The place is not ordinary but this is also what makes its success. It is the place to show off while partying. The parties are amongst the wildest in Bali. The most famous DJs play for beach parties worth IDR 750 000 the entrance! The beautiful people dance or dine in the most extravagant and kitsch setting. But that’s what’s good!

Cocoon

Cocoon is a magical hideaway located in Seminyak, right next to the beach and the bungy jumping (great reference, the taxi drivers not necessarily knowing where Cocoon is). This restaurant / bar / lounge with a swimming-pool around which are disposed sunbeds and umbrellas welcomes the beautiful people both day and night. Cocoon is the perfect place for a drink watching the sunset, a party with a great DJ set or delicious cocktails. More upscale and confidential than Ku De Ta (the other hype place), Cocoon has been chosen by high end customers and the service is up to it.
